What VIN Shield is

VIN Shield produces a report about the vehicle model identified by a VIN, using public US government data (NHTSA, EPA, FEMA) and our own analysis. It is not a vehicle history report and does not contain title, accident, ownership or theft records of its own.

Reports you add

You may add a VIN report only if you have the right to use it. We analyse it at your request for your own use. We do not verify, own or resell its contents, and its accuracy remains the responsibility of its provider.

Accuracy

Data comes from third-party public sources and may be incomplete or out of date. Recalls and complaints describe the model, not necessarily this vehicle. Findings are guidance, not a guarantee of the car's condition. Always get an independent inspection before buying.

VIN Shield is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for NHTSA, the EPA, FEMA, any state DMV, NMVTIS or any manufacturer.
